Coeur d’Alene Casino Kicks Off Ninth Annual Tools 2 Schools Supply Drive

Worley, Idaho (July 24, 2017) – It has been nine year’s since the partnership between the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Coeur d’Alene Casino and KREM 2 was forged with the mission of providing backpacks and school supplies to area children. The drive begins Monday, July 24.

“Back to school season can be an exciting and also financially stressful time of the year for families,” said Francis SiJohn, CEO at the Coeur d’Alene Casino. “We want these students to just be kids and feel confident and empowered on that first day of school.”

In partnering with KREM 2, Walmart, & Communities in Schools of Spokane County, the Tools 2 Schools Supply Drive will aid students in need across the region. Last year alone, the Coeur d’Alene Casino raised more than $10,000 to purchase backpacks and fill them with supplies.

To continue their fundraising efforts, the Coeur d’Alene Casino is offering $5 Extra Play Cash for every $5 donation made at the casino (maximum of $10 per person matched with EPC). All donations will go to purchasing school supplies.

Tools 2 Schools is one of many ways the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and its enterprises donate. Completely separate from this and other donations, the tribe commits five percent of its gaming profits toward education, the total of which exceeds $33.3 million since the original bingo hall opened in 1993.

Donation bins for school supplies are set up at Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area Walmart locations. Cash donations are being accepted at the Coeur d’Alene Casino.

Donations end on Aug. 16 and Coeur d’Alene Casino employee volunteers will then deliver the stuffed backpacks and supplies to support organizations in North Idaho and Spokane for distribution.

The KROC Center will distribute to North Idaho and Communities in Schools of Spokane County will distribute to Eastern Washington. The Coeur d’Alene Casino does not handle distributions. For any questions please contact Laura Papetti, KREM 2, at 509-448-2000.
