Coeur d’Alene Casino Named Region’s Large Business of the Year for 2023

30th Anniversary Year Defined by New Restaurants, Successful Events, Awards, Innovation

 

(Worley, Idaho; January 3, 2024) — The Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber of Commerce named Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel its “Large Business of the Year” as part of its annual Business & Nonprofit Partner Awards announced Dec. 13.

The award “recognizes the dedication, innovation, leadership, community service, achievements and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by businesses in our community.” Chamber member volunteers evaluated nominees and chose winners in six categories.

“It’s wonderfully gratifying to be recognized for our work, service, and contribution to the region and community members,” said Laura Penney, CEO, Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel. “It’s imperative that we simultaneously operate a business valued by our guests, with giving back to the community and bettering the lives of our people.”

Philanthropy is a crucial component of Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel which donated more than $550,000 to various local and regional non-profit organizations in 2023. Beneficiaries included All Heart Infusion, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 149, Big Table, Blessings & Beyond, Camp Kesem at Whitworth University, Circle of Hope, Coeur d’Alene Tribal Domestic Violence Awareness, Communities in Schools, Elevations, The Excel Foundation, Family Promise of the Palouse, Girl Scouts of America, Kootenai Health Breast Cancer Awareness, Meals on Wheels, New Developed Nations, Project ID, Safe Start, Safety Net, Tom’s Turkey Drive, Tools 2 Schools, and Valley Warriors Against Cancer.

“Giving back and partnering with so many impactful organizations lifts others,” Penney said. “We look forward to building on this foundational essence in 2024 and years to come.”

CEO Penney was honored in May with a “Woman of Impact Award” at the Onward and Upward Women's Conference, hosted by The North Idaho Alliance, for her “optimistic attitude, persistence, a strong and powerful voice, passion, purpose, self-confidence and authenticity, as well as her significant contributions to the community throughout her illustrious career.”

Other significant 2023 awards and milestones for the property included:

  • The Gene Bates-designed Circling Raven Golf Club was again ranked “Idaho’s Top Public Course” for the 12th time by Golfweek raters as part of its “Best by State 2023” list. It was rated 18 in “Golfweek’s Best 50 Casino Courses in the U.S.”
  • GolfPass members named Circling Raven the No. 1 Golf Course in Idaho for 2023.
  • Many of the world’s best professional women golfers teed it up for the third straight year in the Circling Raven Championship, an Epson “#Road2LPGA” Epson Tour event in August, with many of the world’s top players competing for the $225,000 purse. The event’s final edition delivered a thrilling finish with a sudden-death playoff.
  • The casino resort was honored as a “Top Ranked Culinary Experience'' by Club + Resort Chef Magazine. Headlining its restaurant lineup is Chinook, an “upper casual” experience renowned for its wood fire grill and a savory menu of meats, seafood, pasta, desserts and cocktails. The signature restaurant refreshed its menu in May with locally sourced, taste-of-the-Northwest seasonal ingredients and dishes.
  • Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel earned “Best Incentive Hotel” honors as part of the 2023 Smart Star Awards presented by Smart Meetings magazine, which highlighted the resort’s exceptional amenities and guest experiences, particularly incentive travel. Smart Star Awards recognize meeting planners’ preferences for hotels, resorts, properties, cruise lines, and conference and convention centers worldwide. Meeting professionals hand-selected the winning properties and destinations in 31 categories.
