HAPPY NATIONAL DONUT DAY

Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort’s Jackpot Java & Creamery would like to wish our readers a Happy National Donut Day! National Donut Day started in 1938 as a fundraiser for The Salvation Army in Chicago to help the needy and to honor The Salvation Army “Lassies” of World War I, who served donuts to soldiers. The tradition stuck (because of donuts) and the nation celebrate these sweet doughy delights the first Friday of June.

Almost one year ago today, Jackpot Java & Creamery opened on June 6, 2016, with full-time hours running round-the-clock in the resort’s Skycatcher promenade.

Donuts are on the menu at Jackpot Java as are pastries made fresh daily from our own kitchen. Favorites include mini lemon huckleberry loaf, mini banana bread, huckleberry sour cream pie, tulip cups filled with huckleberry crème brûlée, cake pops, mini cheesecakes, and savory turnovers. Guests can find hard ice creams in a variety of flavors and they can get their Java fix with locally roasted coffee and other espresso drinks.

Meet the Bakers
The Jackpot Java & Creamery bakers have a passion for baking and pay special attention to detail for guaranteed customer satisfaction in every brewed coffee, specialty beverage, and pastry making.

Eva’s love for baking began with baking cookies and cakes for her Papa’s lunches and by participating in 4-H while growing up. She’s a firm believer that there’s nothing more gratifying than the aroma of freshly baked sweets.
As a little girl with an easy bake oven, Anne made little cakes for her Barbie doll parties which quickly sparked her interest in baking. Once she was enrolled in high school Home Economics class, her desire to bake only grew. One fun fact about Anne is that she always enjoyed making cheesecakes for her family’s birthdays.
Susan started baking in high school where chocolate chip cookies were a favorite. Later as a young housewife and mother, she grew to love baking bread and yummy treats for her family. Now she is perfecting the art of gluten-free baking to accommodate life’s changes.
