Coeur d’Alene Casino is Bringing Back the Funk

Classic R&B night features The Original Lakeside and Bar-Kays

WORLEY, Idaho (Sept. 18, 2017) – Join Coeur d’Alene Casino Sept. 30 for a night of classic R&B with The Original Lakeside and Bar-Kays for Bringing Back the Funk Night.

The Original Lakeside, formerly known as the Ohio Lakeside Express, was formed by a group of high school students more than 27 years ago. From small beginnings the group grew steadily with songs like “Outrageous,” “All the Way Live” and “Raid.” Their 1980 hit single “Fantastic Voyage” was covered by Coolio in 1994.

The Bar-Kays arrived on the scene in 1966 bringing soul, R&B and funk to the masses with hits “Soul Finger,” “Son of Shaft” and “Boogie Body Land.” They began as the house band for Stax Records, backing artists like Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. Now, more than 40 years later, their songs are still featured in movies like “Spies Like Us” and “Superbad.”

The night will be full of funk classics with the bands performing their greatest hits; tickets start at $25.
